Our goal for this project was to create a well-designed, healthy, and energy efficient home with a modest budget. Our efforts were rewarded when the project became the first home in the Portland area to earn the LEED Platinum rating. The rating was awarded by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) for our achievements in sustainable homebuilding.
LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) for Homes is a national third-party certification system for energy efficient, healthy, and sustainable homes. LEED certified homes complete a technically rigorous process that includes a home energy rating (HERS) and onsite inspections to verify that the home is built to be energy and water efficient, environmentally sound, and a healthier place to live.
This home is one of a select few in the United States that have been built to the LEED Platinum standard. The home was built by Root Design Build and supported by the LEED for Homes Provider, Earth Advantage, Inc. (EAI). EAI, headquartered in Portland, Oregon, is the nation’s largest third party certifier of green homes.
Sustainable homes have substantially lower utility bills and often qualify for advantageous financing, lower insurance rates and government incentives. As part of our firmly held commitment to green homebuilding, Root Design Build strives to keep homeownership affordable.
This project demonstrates the level of our commitment and leadership in providing people with the highest quality of living spaces. We take great pride in our continued ability to be leaders in sustainable architecture.
